The Product and Technology Holistic Strategy (PATHS) is the industry’s roadmap developed by SEIPI, funded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and administered by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) . PATHS identifies: (1) emerging, future-ready products and technologies that the Philippines should be focusing on in the next five years to develop a niche in the global market; and (2) the right conditions that will create an environment that is conducive to the transfer of new technologies to the Philippines, the shift to higher-value manufacturing and sustain the growth of the Semiconductor and Electronics (S&E) industry.
SEIPI aims to develop a Science and Technology Center (STC) for research and development (R&D) and training activities for educators, students, and industry practitioners. This is a three-phase program constituting of the Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Laboratory, the R&D Laboratory, and the Lab-Scale Microelectronics Wafer Fab. The STC will be located at DOST Bicutan.
To date, SEIPI is working on a TESDA IC Design Training Regulations. It also formed an IC Design Cluster TWG to address the gaps between the industry demand and university talent supply, and strengthen the academic capabilities of IC design. The team will explore options for acquiring academic licenses for EDA tools at less cost. It will also create a forum of open conversation between the industry and academe about common concerns.
