SEPTEMBER 2022 PHILIPPINE ELECTRONICS EXPORT PERFORMANCE

Electronics exports increased by 21.64% in September 2022 to US$ 4.85 billion, which was 67.71% of the US$ 7.16 billion in total Philippine exports for the month.

 

A. PH Electronics Exports: (Month-on-Month)

Electronics exports went up from US$ 3.98 billion in August 2022 to US$ 4.85 billion in September 2022 as shown in Fig. 1.

Exports in five (5) sectors rose as shown in Table 2. This was led by Consumer Electronics at 49.77%, from US$ 80.87 million to US$ 121.13 million, followed by Office Equipment (37.32%), Semiconductor Components/ Devices (31.38%), Telecommunication (11.53%), and Control and Instrumentation (1.94%). Please see Table 2.

On the other hand, Communication/Radar declined by 18.17%, from US$ 43.66 million to US$ 35.72 million. This was followed by Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (10.99%), Electronic Data Processing (10.34%), and Automotive Electronics (3.29%). Kindly refer to Table 2.


B. PH Electronics Exports: (Year-on-Year)

 

The Philippine Electronics exports climbed by 19.31%, from US$ 4.06 billion in September 2021 to US$ 4.85 billion in September 2022, as shown in Fig. 2.

Exports in four (4) sectors grew, led by Consumer Electronics at 33.99%, from US$ 90.40 million to US$ 121.13 million. This was followed by Semiconductor Components/Devices (28.19%), Control and Instrumentation (16.99%), and Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (3.22%).

Office Equipment products contracted the most by 31.01%, from US$ 55.72 million to US$ 38.44 million. This was followed by Automotive Electronics (25.58%), Telecommunication (18.51%), Electronic Data Processing (11.17%), and Communication/Radar (0.23%).

C. PH Electronics Exports (Year-to-Date)

Year-to-date electronics exports improved by 3.68%, from US$ 34.08 billion in 2021 to US$ 35.34 billion in 2022. This was 60.60% of the total Philippine exports. Please see Fig. 3.

Exports from four (4) sectors went up from last year’s YTD figures, led by Telecommunication at 79.42%, from US$ 395.19 million to US$ 709.04 million. This was followed by Control and Instrumentation (11.94%), Automotive Electronics (9.40%), and Semiconductor Components/Devices (7.90%). Please see Table 3.

On the other hand, exports in Consumer Electronics contracted by 15.51%, from US$ 803.32 million to US$ 678.72 million. This was followed by Electronic Data Processing (13.44%), Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (9.68%), Office Equipment (9.53%), and Communication/Radar (3.80%).


COUNTRIES OF DESTINATION SEPTEMBER 2022

 

Table 1 shows the top five (5) export destinations in September 2022, namely, Hong Kong (20.05%), the USA (14.18%), China (10.87%), Japan (8.08%), and Singapore (6.44%).

The other destinations in the top ten were Taiwan (4.84%), Germany (4.37%), the Netherlands (3.77%), Malaysia (3.11%), and South Korea (2.97%).

The top exported electronics products in September 2022 are seen in Fig. 4. Electronic integrated circuits bound for the USA increased by 390.42%. Conversely, semiconductor devices bound for Singapore decreased by 26.75%. See Table 4.
