OCTOBER 2021 PHILIPPINE ELECTRONICS EXPORT PERFORMANCE

The electronics exports declined by 3.53% in October 2021 to US$ 3.92 billion, which was 61.14% of the US$ 6.41 billion total Philippine exports for the month.

Electronics exports decreased by 3.53% from US$ 4.06 billion in September 2021 to US$ 3.92 billion in October 2021 (see Fig. 1).

Exports in four (4) sectors decreased as shown in Table 2. Automotive Electronics contracted the most at 26.20% from US$ 7.49 million to US$ 5.23 million. This was followed by Consumer Electronics (14.98%), Control and Instrumentation (13.83%) and Components/Devices (Semiconductors) (5.90%). Please see Table 2.

On the other hand, Telecommunication products increased by 30.32% from US$ 81.31 million to US$ 105.96 million. This was followed by Office Equipment (13.82%), Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (8.89%), Communication/Radar (6.20%), and Electronic Data Processing (5.11%).  Kindly refer to Table 2.

 


 

 

B.PH Electronics Exports: (Year-on-Year)

The Philippine Electronics exports grew by 1.11 %, from US$ 3.88 billion in October 2020 to US$ 3.92 billion in October 2021, as shown in Fig. 2.

Three (3) electronics sectors increased, led by Telecommunication, with a 290.88% increase from US$ 27.11 million last year to US$ 105.96 million this year. It was followed by Office Equipment (39.58%), and Electronic Data Processing (7.27%).

Meanwhile, six (6) sectors decreased namely: Automotive Electronics (41.05%), Communication/Radar (39.97%), Consumer Electronics (30.59%), Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (28.76%), Control and Instrumentation (1.45%) and Components/Devices (Semiconductors) (0.42%).

Total electronics exports rose by 15.27%, from US$ 53.48 billion in 2020 to US$ 38.00 billion in 2021. This was 61.20% of the total Philippine exports (See Fig. 3.).

 

Exports from seven (7) electronics sectors rose from last year’s YTD figures, led by Telecommunication at 107.14%, from US$ 241.83 million in October 2020 to US$ 500.91 million in October 2021. This was followed by Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (54.78%), Electronic Data Processing (36.99%), Consumer Electronics (36.16%), Control and Instrumentation (19.99%), Office Equipment (13.43%) and Components/Devices (Semiconductors) (8.41%). See Table 3.

 

In contrast, exports in Automotive Electronics reduced by 48.89% from US$ 151.79 million to US$ 77.59 million. This was followed by Communication/Radar (6.65%). See Table 3.

 


 

 

COUNTRIES OF DESTINATION OCTOBER 2021)

Table 1 shows the top five (5) countries of export destination in October 2021, namely, Hong Kong (20.23%), China (12.34%), USA (12.13%), Singapore (9.22%), and Japan (6.24%).

Other destinations in the top ten are Germany (5.23%), Taiwan (4.07%), Thailand (3.59%), Vietnam (3.41%), and South Korea (3.08%).

The top exported electronics products in October 2021 are seen in Fig. 4. Other products under Components/Devices bound for Hong Kong increased by 848.45%. Conversely, Semiconductor devices bound for Hong Kong dropped by 23.50%. See Table 4.
