MARCH 2022 PHILIPPINE ELECTRONICS EXPORT PERFORMANCE

Electronics exports rose by 14.07% in March 2022 to USD 4.27 billion, which was 59.55% of the US$ 7.17 billion total Philippine exports for the month.

Electronics exports went up by 14.07%, from US$ 3.74 billion in February 2022 to US$ 4.27 billion in March 2022. See Fig. 1.

Exports in eight (8) sectors increased as shown in Table 2. This was led by Office Equipment at 20.12%, from US$ 46.58 million to US$ 55.96 million, followed by Telecommunication (16.47%), Communication/Radar (15.92%), Semiconductor Components/Devices (15.41%), Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (14.81%), Electronic Data Processing (13.68%), Control and Instrumentation (11.95%), and Consumer Electronics (9.10%). Meanwhile, Automotive Electronics went down by 10.68%, from US$ 11.75 million to US$ 10.50 million. Kindly refer to Table 2.


B.  PH Electronics Exports: (Year-on-Year)

The Philippine Electronics exports gained 7.44%, from US$ 3.97 billion in March 2021 to US$ 4.27 billion in March 2022, as shown in Fig. 2.

Exports in five (5) sectors grew, led by Telecommunication at 259.55%, from US$ 27.82 million in March 2021 to US$ 100.04 million in March 2022. This was followed by Automotive Electronics (31.78%), Control and Instrumentation (16.97%), Semiconductor Components/Devices (9.19%), and Communication/Radar (0.45%).

Conversely, Consumer Electronics products contracted the most by 31.28%, from US$ 101.65 million to US$ 69.85 million. This was followed by Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (17.69%), Office Equipment (2.85%), and Electronic Data Processing (0.50%).

C. PH Electronics Exports (Year-to-Date)

Year-to-date electronics exports climbed by 9.27%, from US$ 10.79 billion in 2021 to US$ 11.79 billion in 2022. This was 60.70% of the total Philippine exports (See Fig. 3.).

Exports from five (5) electronics sectors went up from last year’s YTD figures, led by Telecommunication at 212.48%, from US$ 86.55 million last year to US$ 270.46 million this year. This was followed by Automotive Electronics (52.30%), Control and Instrumentation (14.67%), Semiconductor Components/Devices (12.98%), and Office Equipment (11.20%). See Table 3.

On the other hand, exports in Consumer Electronics declined by 21.55%, from US$ 282.89 million to US$ 221.94 million. This was followed by Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (19.55%), Communication/Radar (6.29%) and Electronic Data Processing (4.74%).


COUNTRIES OF DESTINATION (MARCH 2022)

Table 1 shows the top five (5) export destinations in March 2022, namely, Hong Kong (19.53%), the USA (13.26%), China (12.22%), Singapore (9.00%), and Japan (8.44%).

The other destinations in the top ten were Taiwan (4.68%), Germany (4.64%), Thailand (3.71%), the Netherlands (2.55%) and Malaysia (2.53%).

The top exported electronics products in March 2022 are seen in Fig. 4. Semiconductor devices bound for Singapore increased by 23.18%. See Table 4.
