Electronics Imports reached US$ 2.79 billion in January 2022 or 26.01 % of the US$ 10.74 billion total commodity imports.

The country’s electronics imports rose by 2.87%, from US$ 2.72 billion in December 2021 to US$ 2.79 billion in January 2022 (see Fig. 1).
Imports in seven (7) out of nine (9) sectors grew, as shown in Table 2. Telecommunication had the largest increase at 13.14%, from US$ 111.90 million in December 2021 to US$ 126.60 million in January 2022. This was followed by Control and Instrumentation (12.30%), Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (10.72%), Automotive Electronics (8.15%), Consumer Electronics (7.06%), Communication/Radar (7.05%), and Semiconductor Components/Devices (4.58%).
Meanwhile, Office Equipment (23.34%), and Electronic Data Processing (11.79%) decreased (See Table 2).
B. PH Electronics Imports: (Year-on-Year)
The Philippine Electronics imports rose by 14.52%, from US$ 2.44 billion in January 2021 to US$ 2.79 billion in January 2022, as shown in Fig. 2.
Imports in five (5) sectors increased, led by Medical/Industrial Instrumentation at 72.37%, from US$ 9.96 million in January 2021 to US$ 17.17 million in January 2022. This was followed by Control and Instrumentation (38.14%), Telecommunication (22.93%), Semiconductor Components/Devices (21.02%), and Consumer Electronics (19.09%) as shown in Table 2.
Four (4) sectors went down, namely Automotive Electronics (31.12%), Office Equipment (14.39%), Electronic Data Processing (11.89%), and Communication/Radar (8.72%).

COUNTRIES OF ORIGIN (JANUARY 2022)
Table 1 shows that the top five (5) countries of origin of electronics imports in December 2021 were China (20.00%), Korea (15.05%), Taiwan (13.09%), Japan (12.00%), and Singapore (10.51%).

The rest of the top ten countries of origin were Hong Kong (7.82%), USA (6.82%), Thailand (3.05%), Malaysia (2.88%), and Vietnam (2.09%).

Fig. 4 shows the top imported electronics products in January 2022. Other semiconductor products imported from Korea rose by 78.83%. Meanwhile, other electronics under EDP imported from Japan dropped by 40.70%. See Table 4.
