RosettaNet
is a consortium of more than 400 of the world's leading electronic components , Information Technology ,Semi conductor Manufacturing and Solutions companies representing over $1 trillion in annual revenues . It is a self funded , non profit organization dedicated to creating , implementing and promoting open e-business standards . These standards form a common
e-business language, aligning processes between trading partners on a global basis .
RosettaNet drives collaborative development and rapid deployment of open e-business standards developed with the collaboration and expertise of leading high tech companies worldwide. Standardized e-business processes are critically important to the high tech marketplace. Companies that use proprietary connections and with only a small number of trading partners are at a disadvantage in today's highly competitive / collaborative business environment . The Internet offers a way for standard business processes to be exchanged , not just with a small number of intimate trading partners but with a potentially unlimited global trading community .

BENEFITS OF ROSETTANET STANDARDS
It offers everyone involved in the supplying and buying of today's technologies the opportunity to profit. Businesses that offer the tools and services that implement the RosettaNet standards gain exposure and business relationships. Companies who adopted the standards realize global, dynamic and flexible trading networks, timely money-saving operational efficiencies and new business . End users enjoy uniformity in purchasing practices.
RosettaNet members highlight their progress in a number of ways . For example ; HP ( Hewlett Packard ) since it manufactures Unix servers has worked with its contract manufacturers and distributors to reduce the time required for processing purchase orders , checking order status , and advising of future shipments from DAYS to MINUTES ; Engineers at Lucent Technologies can now receive electronic product specifications from key suppliers and reduced the time required to select technical components by 50% ; Compaq computers manage millions of purchase orders by linking its own business systems to those of its suppliers and customers ; Intel conducts $5B worth of business and expects to reduce as much as $500M in annual cost out of its supply chain

For years, Trading partners have relied on Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)  to automatically exchange business documents with strategic suppliers and customers , albeit in a batch mode environment . RosettaNet changes all that ; Firms linked together in a supply chain can now use the enabling infrastructure of the Internet and the Web to interconnect routine business processes and create interactions that shorten the lead time of information exchanges.

Consider the ensuing possibilities :
One company's business system automatically responds to online requests and take predefined actions based on standardized rules of discourse and predictable response times.
An employee at another firm can query the price and availability of particular component parts from multiple suppliers over the Internet and receive consistent results within a predefined period of time .
A firm can electronically track orders and shipments for production goods from specific suppliers , immediately incorporate the results into its own enterprise systems , automatically alert specific customers and only resort to involving staff members to resolve exception conditions.
A COMPELLING VALUE PROPOSITION to reduce operational cost , enhance profit margins and improve operational agility , thereby, meeting customer needs.

SUMMARY :
The key accelerators for e-business adoption in Asia Pacific are its strong manufacturing and export economies , increased competition due largely to deregulation and the need to reduce the cost of doing business . The Potential of growth in e-business or e-commerce remains huge in the Philippines and the RosettaNet standard aims to provide that needed boost to fuel the growth of the country's prime industries.
