The electronics industry reached US$ 3.39 billion in June 2020, or an increase of 19.55% from last month. The significant increase was a result of the ramp-up of operations amid the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.
A. PH Electronics Exports: (Month-on-Month)

Electronics exports increased by 19.55%, from US$ 2.83 billion in May 2020, to US$ 3.39 billion in June 2020 (see Fig. 1).
Exports in all nine sectors increased, from the previous month’s figures, as shown in Table 2. Office Equipment increased by 236.73%, from US$ 16.91 million, to US$ 56.95 million this month. This was followed by Consumer Electronics (162.91%), Medical / Industrial Instrumentation (141.36%), Electronic Data Processing (56.41%), Communication / Radar (40.63%), Automotive Electronics (29.57%), Control and Instrumentation (15.78%), Components / Semiconductor Devices (7.10%), and Telecommunication (4.19%). B. PH Electronics Exports: (Year-on-Year)
Exports decreased by 11.61%, from US$ 3.83 billion in June 2019, to US$ 3.39 billion in June 2020, as shown in Fig. 2.
Exports in six out of nine sectors dropped, led by Communication / Radar at 60.78%, from US$ 94.28 million in June 2019, to US$ 36.98 million in June 2020. This was followed by Telecommunication (58.28%), Office Equipment (29.42%), Consumer Electronics (22.94%), Electronic Data Processing (9.74%), and Components / Semiconductor Devices (8.08%). Exports in three out of nine sectors increased, led by Control and Instrumentation at 88.38%. This was followed by Medical / Industrial Instrumentation (25.81%), and Automotive Electronics (17.62%). Kindly refer to Table 2.

Cumulative electronics exports decreased by 16.91%, from US$ 20.70 billion last year to US$ 17.20 billion this year. This comprises 60.48% of total Philippine exports (see Fig. 3).
Exports in seven sectors decreased from last year’s YTD figures. Communication / Radar decreased at 50.53%, from US$ 484.23 million last year, to US$ 239.53 million this year. Other sectors that decreased were Telecommunication (49.50%), Office Equipment (29.97%), Electronic Data Processing (29.42%), Consumer Electronics (12.86%), Components / Semiconductor Devices (9.97%), and Medical / Industrial Instrumentation (8.61%). Two sectors increased, namely: Control and Instrumentation (23.20%) and Automotive Electronics (18.48%). Kindly refer to Table 3.
COUNTRIES OF DESTINATION (JUNE 2020)
As shown in Table 1, the top five (5) countries of destination in June 2020 were Hong Kong (20.17%), the People’s Republic of China (14.01%), the United States (12.70%), Singapore (8.37%), and Japan (7.14%).

Other destinations in the top ten were Taiwan (4.50%), Thailand (4.34%), South Korea (4.27%), Germany (4.10%), and Netherlands (2.59%).

The top exported electronics products in June 2020 are shown on Figure 4. Semiconductor devices bound for China increased by 48%; however, wafers and discs bound for Hong Kong decreased by 3% (see Table 4).
