Electronics imports reached US$ 2.35 billion in January 2019, making up 26% of the US$ 9.03 billion total imports of the country.
A. PH Electronic Imports: December 2018 versus January 2019 (Month-on-Month)
Fig. 1: PH Electronic Imports (Dec 2018 vs Jan 2019)
Electronic imports increased by 5.45%, from US$ 2.23 billion in December 2018, to US$ 2.35 billion in January 2019 (see Fig. 1).
Six out of nine sectors increased from the previous month’s figures, as shown in Table 2. Telecommunication increased by 28.78%, from US$ 97.89 million in December 2018, to US$ 126.06 million in January 2019. This was followed by Automotive Electronics (19.71%), Electronic Data Processing (16.63%), Control and Instrumentation (8.51%), Control / Instrumentation (7.08%), and Components and Semiconductor Devices (2.71%) (refer to Table 2).
Three sectors increased, namely: Medical / Industrial Instrumentation (11.70%), Office Equipment (5.75%), and Consumer Electronics (0.39%) (see Table 2).
B. PH Electronic Imports: January 2018 versus January 2019 (Year-on-Year)
Electronic imports grew by 4.09%, from US$ 2.26 billion in January 2018, to US$ 2.35 billion in January 2019, as shown in Fig. 2.
Seven out of nine sectors increased, led by Communication and Radar at 18.37%, from US$ 88.75 million last year to US$ 105.06 million this year. This was followed by Automotive Electronics (12.44%), Communication / Radar (6.74%), Telecommunication (6.10%), Electronic Data Processing (5.20%), Control and Instrumentation (3.63%) and Components and Semiconductor Devices (3.01%) (see Table 2).
Two sectors decreased, namely: Office Equipment (15.87%) and Medical / Industrial Instrumentation (6.03%).
