The Electronics industry remains as the country’s top exporter for the month of January, with total receipts of US$ 3.08 billion out of US$ 5.28 billion, or 52.88% of the total Philippine exports.
A. PH Electronic Exports: December 2018 versus January 2019 (Month-on-Month)

Electronic exports increased by 3.28%, from US$ 2.92 billion in December 2018, to US$ 3.08 billion in January 2019 (see Fig. 1).
Seven out of nine sectors increased, led by Communication / Radar at 92.25%, from US$ 38.27 million last month, to US$ 73.58 million this month, followed by Consumer Electronics (43.16%), Medical / Industrial Instrumentation (32.56%), Automotive Electronics (17.48%), Control / Instrumentation (9.62%), Electronic Data Processing (4.74%), and Components / Semiconductor Devices (1.86%) (refer to Table 2).
Two sectors decreased, namely: Office Equipment (50.71%) and Telecommunication (5.77%) (see Table 2).
B. PH Electronic Exports: January 2018 versus January 2019 (Year-on-Year)
Electronic exports increased by 1.70%, from US$ 3.01 billion in December 2018, to US$ 3.08 billion in January 2019, as shown in Fig. 2.
Five out of nine sectors increased, led by Consumer Electronics at 94.88%, from US$ 29.04 million in January 2018, to US$ 56.60 million in January 2019. Other sectors that exhibited an increase were Communication / Radar (46.74%), Medical / Industrial Instrumentation (27.24%), Electronic Data Processing (3.82%), and Components / Semiconductor Devices (0.89%) (see Table 2).
Four sectors decreased, namely: Telecommunication (36.92%), Office Equipment (29.92%), Automotive Electronics (20.07%), and Control and Instrumentation (6.30%) (refer to Table 2).

COUNTRIES OF DESTINATION (JANUARY 2019)
As shown in Table 1, the top five (5) countries of destination in January 2019 were Hong Kong (17.82%), the United States of America (15.49%), the People’s Republic of China (12.31%), Japan (8.63%), and Singapore (8.53%).

Other destinations in the top ten were Germany (6.62%), the Netherlands (5.27%), Taiwan (4.85%), Thailand (3.74%), and Malaysia (3.04%).

The top exported electronics products for this month were Components / Semiconductor Devices, Communication / Radar, Consumer Electronics, and Telecommunication (refer to Fig. 4). Hard Disk Drives bound for Hong Kong increased by 11.28%. However, Machinery and Mechanical Appliances bound for Thailand decreased by 50.05% (see Table 3).
